The objectives
The masterclass is an intensive, multidisciplinary course lasting 9 months (from October to June). Our aim is to enable each participant to acquire a solid grounding in acting techniques, to build their acting 'tools' more precisely and to go further in the process of working within the Russian theatre school.
Although an understanding of Russian is not required (as the 1,800 hours of lessons are simultaneously translated from Russian into French), during the masterclass it is possible to study Russian and European culture and, for the more motivated, to learn Russian.
The subjects taught
Acting techniques (with two instructors), biomechanics, diction, classical dance, individual and group singing, acrobatics - plastic arts, piano, combat/fencing/juggling, tempo/rhythm, tap dancing, make-up and Russian lessons.
Organisation and progress of the course
The training takes place in two successive phases. In the first phase, participants work on the concept of "From Act to Feeling": true mobilisation and correct actions naturally give rise to sincere feelings and sensations in the actor during the acting process. The working method is based, on the one hand, on research into the processes that should help the actor to experience genuine feelings and sensations in his performance and, on the other hand, on analysis of the 'psycho-physiological' process that occurs on stage. To this end, various modules and exercises are offered to trainee actors to enable them to put into practice all the stages in the process of building a character.
