The participants

The project is aimed at film and theatre actors, apprentices or professionals, aged 18 or over, wishing to learn about a different approach to theatre or discover the 'Russian Theatre School', as taught in Belarus as taught in Belarus, based on the principles and methods of Stanislavsky, Michael Chekhov, Meyerhold and Tovstonogov.

  • It is not necessary to speak Russian.

    All courses are simultaneously translated into French by 4 interpreters. By removing the language barrier through translation, it is therefore possible to follow the teachers' lessons as if you were a Belarusian student. For the experience to be complete, you should try to understand the atmosphere in the classroom, as the work ethic sets the tone and pace of the course.

    During the course in Minsk

    Your mind must be available. We need you to be committed and motivated. The course is a lot of work and requires a great deal of commitment from everyone. You'll need to be involved both in the classes and in the flats and theatre. You will be expected to take an active part in in the upkeep of the premises and get heavily involved in community life.

    How it works

    The audition takes the form of a course supervised by teachers from the Minsk Academy of Arts. You must be available for the two afternoons. Among other things, we'll be judging your commitment and motivation. The Masterclass in Minsk is a lot of work and requires a great deal of commitment on everyone's part. This commitment must apply both during the lessons and at the cottage, where you'll be asked to cook and help with household chores. We will assess your ability to fit into a group. The audition will not take place in the traditional way. Some exercises will be carried out in a group. During the exercises, you must be able to show your passion for theatre, your desire to improve, your personality and your ability to take on board the teachers' comments. to take on board the teachers' comments. You will therefore need to prepare a few exercises in advance. Each exercise be no longer than 3 minutes:

  • A song
  • Plastics/Dance study: choreography
  • An animal" study: you have to embody an animal and imagine a situation in which your behaviour changes as a result of an event. Highlight the animal's psychological character
  • An object" study: by embodying an object, you must imagine a situation in which your behaviour changes as a result of an event. Highlight the psychological character of the object
  • Exercise: you can show us what you want
  • During these two afternoons with your potential future teachers and fellow students, as well as former Masters students, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Minsk course. Finally, the audition will end with a one-to-one interview with the teachers.

    To begin with, you need to send us your CV (with photo(s)) and a covering letter, which will lead to an initial meeting at our association's office in Paris. If you live in the provinces or abroad, this interview can take place by telephone or Skype. The purpose of this meeting is first and foremost to check your expectations and to make sure that you fit the profile we're looking for, i.e. a passionate person who wants to link his or her professional life to theatre.
